All teams qualified for LoL Worlds 2023
The 2023 LoL World Championship (Worlds 2023) is fast approaching, and all teams other than Worlds Qualification Series winners have been locked in. Here’s every team that’s going to South Korea.
Worlds 2023 will mark the return of LoL’s biggest competition to South Korea for the first time since 2018, when Invictus Gaming won the title over Fnatic in dominant fashion. The tournament will take place between October 10 and November 19 across four locations in Seoul and Busan.
Worlds 2023 will feature 22 teams from nine regions, with the LPL and the LCK being the only regions with a guaranteed four-strong contingent. Riot Games has introduced a number of changes to the format, most notably replacing the round-robin group stage with a Swiss stage.
Now that the regular season is almost completely wrapped up, every team that’s going to Worlds 2023 has been locked in. The four LPL representatives were determined early on, with MSI 2023 winners JD Gaming headlining a contingent that also includes Bilibili Gaming, LNG Esports, and Weibo Gaming.
On August 12, Gen.G booked the first LCK spot at Worlds after reaching the grand final of the Summer Split. A week later, T1 punched their ticket to Worlds after edging past KT Rolster in a thrilling lower bracket final.
The third and fourth LCK seeds at Worlds went to KT Rolster and Dplus, respectively, after they finished in the top two in the LCK Regional Final.
Meanwhile, Cloud9, NRG, and Team Liquid have already punched their tickets to Worlds. Golden Guardians failed to join them at the last hurdle after getting stomped by Team BDS in a one-sided series, giving us four LEC teams at Worlds 2023. The other three LEC representatives are G2 Esports, MAD Lions, and Fnatic, and they’ll be going directly to the Swiss Stage along with the other three LCS teams.
